What is the APP2Speak Lite app?
APP2Speak Lite is a smaller version of the APP2Speak® photo-based AAC app, designed to give you the general experience of using the full version to support speech and communication.
How do I find the toolbar and help page on my iPhone?
On your iPhone, tap the letters “APP” on the APP2Speak® logo. The tool bar will pop up along with the help page. (the green ?)
Is APP2Speak available in different languages?
APP2Speak® is written in English. On iPad and iPhone, language and region settings can be used with APP2Speak’s custom communication pages and text-to-speech features to support other languages.

How do I get to the text-to-speech page on my iPhone?
On your iPhone, tap “Speak” on the APP2Speak® logo. The text-to-speech page will open.
How do I get APP2Speak on my device?
- Make certain your iPad or iPhone is updated to the latest compatible operating system before downloading APP2Speak®.
- Purchase and download APP2Speak from iTunes/Apple Store
- Open and customize APP2Speak® in portrait orientation.
What is the green "?" for?
The green ? opens the Help page. Select the green ? to learn how to use APP2Speak® by viewing the written instructions or video demonstration.
How do I start on the custom pages?
Select the green ? to open the Help page. Under Preferences, slide the Custom Pages button to the right to start APP2Speak® on the custom pages. You can also select the corresponding preference to start APP2Speak® on the text-to-speech page.
How do I get to the next page?
Swipe left or right to move between pages, or select the page number and use the “Go to Page” feature.
What are the orange arrows < > for?
The orange arrows < > are considered “targets” when using a Bluetooth switch.
I notice the pages move when trying to select a picture. How can I prevent this?
Select the green ? to open the Help page and turn on the Page Lock feature.
You can also use the accessibility features on your iPad or iPhone to select the appropriate touch accommodations.
Accessibility features also support Bluetooth switches and low vision.
How many pictures are included with APP2Speak?
APP2Speak® includes 80 real-life photos with title words and speech output across 4 Preset Communication Pages. Preset photos can be turned on or off and moved within the preset pages.
How do I add pictures and customize?
Custom communication pages are unlimited and can be used for personalized words, phrases, and sentences. When customizing APP2Speak®, your device must be in portrait orientation. On a custom page, select and hold the area you want to customize until the settings screen appears. Choose a photo from your library or take a photo, enter a title, add a phrase or sentence, or record a familiar voice for personalized speech output. Select Save, confirm, and close the settings screen.
How do I access the Text-to-Speech page in APP2Speak?
Select the the text-to-speech button on the top toolbar of the app.
I'm having trouble using my camera in APP2Speak.
Go to your device Settings, select APP2Speak®, and make sure access to Photos, Microphone, and Camera is turned on.
How do I change the size of the picture?
Touch the button at the top: Small or Big
Can APP2Speak be used on multiple devices?
APP2Speak® can be used on multiple compatible devices through Apple Family Sharing.
