APP2Speak® is an AAC app designed to help adults who have difficulty speaking due to stroke, aphasia, progressive neurological conditions, head and neck cancer, and other conditions affecting speech and communication.
My Background
I have been a licensed speech-language pathologist for more than 40 years. Helping people connect with the world through speech and communication is my true passion. During my career, I have had the opportunity to work with many clients in a variety of environments. It has been my pleasure to assist them in returning to their daily routines as quickly as possible.
How APP2Speak Was Born
Throughout my career, I’ve created hundreds of communication boards and used numerous technological devices and apps designed to help people living with speech impairments communicate more effectively. While each of these products had merit, they also had barriers. Communication boards were helpful but limited, while many devices and apps were complicated to use, relied heavily on symbols and icons, and were cost prohibitive. After an exhaustive search, I realized the type of communication tool I was looking for simply did not exist.
I decided to take on the challenge of creating an intuitive, photo-based, and reasonably priced Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) app designed to meet the needs I was seeing in my clients.
And so, APP2Speak was born.
What Makes APP2Speak Different
I designed and created APP2Speak® to be a photo-based, easy-to-use, and affordable AAC solution. APP2Speak is fully customizable. You can easily integrate your own photos, take a photo within the app, personalize words and phrases, and record a familiar voice.
The simple act of touching a photo allows users to convey a short phrase, sentence, or even a complex story. The preset photo pages and text-to-speech feature enable immediate communication.
